General Lead Care:

Application of a quality leather conditioner or dressing as needed, depending on climate and use, to prevent the lead from drying out.
We recommend Bick 4, or other fine leather conditioner for exotic leathers. Avoid conditioners with high water content, as the water will evaporate, leaving the leather dried out and vulnerable.
Do not use tallow, or other animal oil or fat products. They contain salts and compounds that build up on the leathers, and do not allow the leather to breathe properly.
Neatsfoot oil will not only discolor the leather, it will weaken the leather, which will lead to deterioration.

We personally use Bick 4 to condition the lead, work it in, lightly wipe any excess and then seal with Aussie conditioner/sealer.

** We do sell small travel/starter size bottles/jars of conditioner if you wish. You can choose this option when you order a lead, or pay for a premade lead. **
